BDSM Basics: Terms to Know Pt. 1

A - Aftercare: The time after play when the Dominant takes care of the submissive. Helping them to come out of play headspace and making sure they are alright.

B - Bondage: The restriction of movement of ones body or limbs. This can be done with many different things from silk scarves to Japanese ropes to metal shackles.

C - Chastity Belt: The banning or physical prevention of a person achieving orgasm or genital stimulation in any way. There are both male and female forms of chastity devices.

D - Dominant: The one on top. The person that oversees and controls the direction of the play.

E - Exhibitionism: The act of behaving in such a manner as to draw attention to ones self. Also known as public play and is most often used as a form of public humiliation.

F - Flogger: A whip with many "tails". It can be used all over the body including the genitals but most commonly on the back or buttocks. It is not a tool recommended for novices as you can do serious damage without training.

G - Gags: Used to restrict the use of the mouth, they come in various forms such as fabric, ball and leather. Not to be used for long periods of time as they can be dangerous. One must be careful of restricted breathing.

H - Humiliation: To humiliate a submissive by forcing them to do things that they normally wouldn't do. Often done in public. Eg. Human furniture, puppy play at the park, crossdressing etc.

I - Ice Play: Ice used on the nipples and genitals for the desensitization of nerves.

K - Kneeling: Is used to show a form of respect by a submissive to a dominant. There are different kneeling positions that represent different things, from homage to punishment, to "offering" ones self.

L - Licking: Play involving the "licking" of various body parts.
